“Baby, this ain’t me…Got so ugly I don’t even know myself”

It got ugly…REAL ugly. Self loathing, hatred, low self esteem and self worth. Got so ugly that at times I wanted to end it all, or didn’t care what happened to me. Went through interesting times and went through hard times as well. But you know what? Here I am…I survived. Sure, more work is needed, and our journey keeps on going, but here we are…made it through. The lights there.

We allow ourselves and our lives to get really ugly, almost unrecognizable. I’m sure most out there at one time or another look at ourselves and ask, “who am I?” or “who is this?” I know for myself it was like that. And hey, I still got a ways to go, and I’m always working at it. Sure, things have happened to us, or things just don’t work out, but without realization and accountablity, the seeds get planted, the venom and poison develop, and with the taste of our own poison, we rot, we fester, we become ugly.

So, if you’re lost, if you don’t recognize yourself, see what needs to be done, and do it….That’s not you. That’s not me. Search for the true self, not the one you yourself created. It’s all in your head. Time to go from unrecognizable to undeniable.

Song of the day: The Black Keys – Grown So Ugly

Okay, so here we are…during one of our sessions, Glo and I discussed movies we had on repeat back in the day. I said that two that came to mind was Thrashin’ and Rad. Boy, did I give the old VCR a workout with those two videocasettes…I;d say Thrashin’ got a little more play than Rad since I was more of a skater kid, but both were in HEAVY rotation. Anyone out there ever see these movies? If not, I think they are worth the watch.

Got a litte shade for not mentioning this gem, Gleaming The Cube…but it definately goes on the list. Been a while,. Might have to look this one up again.

Ah, the Bones Brigade…if you know, you know. The Search For Animal Chin. Another tape that got wore out. This was right up my alley. All your favorite skaters from back in the day…including a young Tony Hawk. Search it out and watch. Think this was released in 1987….yes, 1987…man, I’m old.
